The future of International Recruitment

The future of International Recruitment

Looking ahead, at My Healthcare Recruit it is our belief that international recruitment is only going to become more competitive.

Not only are many more organisations within the UK adopting international recruitment as a core element of their workforce strategy, but globally developed countries have a shortage of healthcare staff and therefore the number of recruiting organisations is increasing.

If international recruitment is to be a sustainable part of the UK’s international nurse workforce strategy it is important that nurse pay is perceived as fair and in line with the cost of living, because international nurses now have a wide range of options to choose from – it is a candidate’s market.

It is also important to acknowledge the key areas of skills which are in particular high-demand now (for example Mental Health nurses and Theatre nurses) and take a long-term approach to ensuring we have a sustainable pipeline of such skills going forward, for example working with training institutions overseas to recruit and train more candidates into specific disciplines with the promise of a job offer at the end of it.

Similarly, employers are more likely to be able to fill their vacancies if they are prepared to provide more on-the-job training. Of course the preference is to recruit as many “ready to go” international candidates as possible, but we must also be realistic about the talent pool and a competitive progression plan can be very attractive to migrants.

My Healthcare Recruit supports UK healthcare employers in the public, private, and care sector to find international nurses who are a great fit for their organization, by using market-leading video interviewing tools to connect them to our database of qualified candidates. Our innovative approach makes international candidates easier to find and more cost-effective to source than ever before. Find out more at www.myhealthcarerecruit.com.
